What we collect, and what we do with it.
Short version: we collect what you type into a form, we use it to answer you, and we sell it to nobody. There is no advertising network, no tracking pixel and no analytics on this site.
The website
The pages themselves collect nothing. We do not use cookies to identify you, we run no analytics, and every font and image is served from our own domain — so simply reading Christian Folk sends your details to no one at all.
When you fill in a form
Three forms ask for your details: subscribing, submitting an article, and enquiring about advertising. We keep only the fields that form asks for:
- Subscribing — name, email, mobile number, postal address and the plan you chose. The address is needed only for the printed magazine.
- Submitting an article — name, email, city, category, title and the article itself.
- Advertising — name, organisation, email, phone, the placement you want and your message.
Alongside these we record the date, the country your request came from, and your browser’s user-agent string. Those last two exist to spot abuse of the forms, nothing else.
Where it goes
- Our database. Submissions are stored in Cloudflare D1, in the Asia-Pacific region.
- The editor’s inbox. We are emailed a copy so we can reply, using Resend as the delivery service.
- A confirmation to you. Where enabled, we send you an email confirming we received your submission.
- Our records. Where enabled, submissions are mirrored to a private Google Sheet so the circulation team can work with them.
- WhatsApp. If you gave a mobile number and confirmations are enabled, we may send you a WhatsApp message about your subscription. You can reply STOP at any time.
These are the only places your details go. We do not sell, rent or trade them, and we share them with no one else.
The app
The Christian Folk app keeps your reading entirely to itself. Your giving and savings entries, reading progress, bookmarks and highlights are stored on your own device and are never uploaded, never seen by us, and never sent to any third party. The app has no account and no login. Erase everything at any time from Profile → Erase everything, and it is gone.
The app connects to no bank and gives no investment advice. Scripture in the app is the World English Bible, which is in the public domain.
How long we keep it
Subscriber details are kept for as long as you are a subscriber, and for a reasonable period afterwards for our accounts. Article and advertising enquiries are kept as part of our editorial records. Ask us to delete yours and we will.
Your rights
You can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to admin@christianfolk.org and we will act on it. If you subscribed by email you can unsubscribe from any message we send.
Children
Christian Folk is a general-readership magazine. We do not knowingly collect details from children. If a child has sent us their details, write to us and we will remove them.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update this page. It was last revised on the date shown below.
